Royal Agricultural Society of WA, Educational Community Garden

Museum of Perth in partnership with The Royal WA Agricultural Society (RASWA), are pleased to announce commencement of first round stakeholder consultation and engagement interviews for the planning and development of a community education project for RASWA at the Claremont showgrounds.

The Museum of Perth has designed, built and currently manages two heritage gardens for communities at Sloan’s Cottage in Leda and Wilkinson’s Homestead in Gosnells. Both are successful projects, well received by local community. We have also recently embarked on two Heritage Garden projects in Midland and Bassendean.

The RASWA educational community garden will showcase the hard work of the Agricultural sector in WA and the many benefits of healthy gardening.
The proposed RASWA community education garden aims to showcase Western Australian food production, sustainable horticulture, and community gardening.

Initial thoughts are that the garden would function as a small scale demonstration farm, used to deliver year-round activation of the showgrounds site, and to engage and educate local and state-wide community members, schools, local residents and other groups about agriculture and associated industries and technologies.

We are currently conducting our first round of stakeholder engagement interviews and would greatly appreciate your feedback.

For more information please email Andi Benson, Project Coordinator, andi@museumofperth.com.au
