Brigidine (now Newman) College Interschool Athletics Carnival

So much to love about this early-1960s shot of the Brigidine (now Newman) College girls giving their all to cheer on their school at the (now Associated & Catholic Colleges) Interschool Athletics Carnival at Perry Lakes Stadium!

The life! The energy! You can just about hear them!

…and on the left, near the bottom, there’s a can of Cottees something. What is that?

The date for this is pre-1962 but, being at Perry Lakes Stadium which was constructed for the Empire Games in late 1962, perhaps it was a test run for the venue?

We need your help to identify these girls, which might cement the date. (Edit: These girls have been identified as Tricia Brophy [left], Marion Waddell [foreground] and Jane Mazza [back], all 1973 Leavers! This means the date is much later than previously thought - c1972 or 1973!)

And lastly ... did we win?
