Karboordup

Description & Location

The name for an unspecified tract of land on the western side of the Perth Town Hall in the city centre. The description was recorded by the ethnographer Daisy Bates from questions posed to one of her principal South-West informants, Baabur, also known as George Eliot, of the Vasse region.

Bates made a note to try and verify the information by questioning her confidant Fanny Balbuk, a well-known Noongar historical figure who passed away in 1907 at the age of 64, whose wealth of knowledge on the geography of the Perth region informed much of Bates’ research in the area. However, no further record appears to exist beyond the notes obtained from Baabur.
